This small foam piece completes the seal across the top of the intake tube to the hood liner.
In our testing. We saw a 10 degree decrease in a 10 minute idle time with the insert. It isn't much, in fact we don't even run it on our shop car. However we wanted to give people options, these have been included with the kits since January 2016. The insert just slips into the top of the shield. It's very easy to take in and out.
