QTY:

MM Cross-Axis Joint upgrade replaces a worn cross-axis joint on a Mustang Cobra IRS spindle. Maximum Motorsports' spherical bearing conversion is far less expensive than OEM Ford replacements!

What is a cross-axis joint?
The IRS cross-axis joints are the pivots on the rear uprights (spindles) where the rear control arms attach. Each spindle has an upper joint and a lower joint, for attachment of the upper and lower control arms.

MM's upgraded replacement for the plastic-bushed OEM Ford joint utilizes a high-strength PTFE-lined spherical bearing. These bearings provide long service life, along with easier and less expensive future maintenance.

Notes
  • Fits 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra IRS spindle
  • 1 joint only (4 joints per car)
  • MMIRSB-3 kit includes 4 joints and tools to aid installation.
  • MM has a special press tool (MMT-10) to aid in removing the OEM Ford joint and installing the MM replacement; click the option above to purchase at a discount.
  • Ford recalled the 1999 model year Mustang Cobra to replace the IRS spindles because of problems with the cross-axis joints. The Maximum Motorsports replacement joint does not fit the original 1999 uprights; only the uprights that replaced them in the recall, and the post-1999 OEM uprights. See this document about how to distinguish between the two different Mustang Cobra IRS uprights.
